All donations made to Pulse CPSEA go towards our free community patient safety education and patient advocacy services
Patient advocacy at the bedside is just one of the services we at Pulse can offer to people dealing with what may be one of the most difficult periods of their lives. Families don't always know how to help the person they love when they are suddenly thrust into emotional turmoil of an unfamiliar medical world. Just being a mother, husband, wife, sibling or good friend, and being available for support can be a job unto itself. Then add the burden of not knowing if you are getting the best care, or of feeling that more can be done to help and not knowing where to turn.
The recent finding that medical errors are the third-leading cause of death in the United States is not a surprise to those of us in the business for 20 or more years. What is surprising is the lack of funding available to help educate the public. Resources are going to the people who work in healthcare. In our twentieth year, we have remained focused on meeting them half way by educating the public with that same information. Some projects we are working on this year:
Over 96,000 African-Americans die each year due to the results of racial inequality. Pulse's Ask for Your Life Campaign is addressing bias by raising awareness about racial disparities in healthcare, and encourages African-Americans to get involved and partner with their healthcare team for better outcomes.
Presentations to middle- and high school students on preparing to visit the doctor and learning the best ways to communicate for the correct diagnosis; learning about medication safety and management, and keeping records of their illnesses and office visits.
Monthly online conference room to meet others to talk about advocacy with other caregivers.
Our programs raise awareness about patient safety, are interactive, and focus on solutions. We need your support! A donation in any amount would help ensure we continue this lifesaving work. Please consider making Pulse CPSEA your charity of choice.
